This isn't Ayer's first time talking about the superiority of his version compared to the studio's, telling fans this past July they should go to the source and demand the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad be released. However, it's interesting to hear the director say he wasn't always that confident about it. Ayer's reveal his cut is "the tone of the Comicon trailer 100%" should only increase excitement surrounding his version of the film. The Comic-Con trailer was well-received and more along the lines of what many expected for the movie's theatrical release.

Whether the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad will actually come out anytime soon is still up in the air. The existence of James Gunn's The Suicide Squad may not help matters, though it could also renew interest in the original film. Regardless, fans are still anxiously clamoring for the Ayer Cut to be released, wanting to see the movie as the director originally intended. Many have even argued the unseen version of the film may just redeem Jared Leto's Joker, a controversial figure in Suicide Squad. However, Warner Bros. has yet to suggest the Ayer Cut will ever see the light of day.

In a recent tweet sent out in response to a thread on the potential release of the director's cut, Ayer said he recently watched his version of the film, calling it "f*cking amazing." Ayer also confessed he "felt guilty for years" about the movie, blaming himself. You can read the entire tweet below.
